GT Radial introduces “white-hot” winter tyres into dual EV Ready offering

GT Radial has added 12 existing sizes from the WinterPro2 evo and WinterPro2 Sport into its “white-hot” mid-market dual electric vehicle (EV) offering for independent garages.

Covering 15” to 19” rims, the specially selected sizes fulfil the differing performance requirements of both EV and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and have had the brand’s EV Ready badge added to their sidewalls for easy identification.

Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Deputy General Manager for Product Planning PCR and LTR, Giti Tire R&D Centre (Europe), said: “When the climate turns cold and roads get slippery it is important that tyres are adapted to the vehicles on which they’re being used.

“Lower temperatures decrease battery efficiency and their vehicles’ range, increasing users ‘range anxiety. In combination putting down the immediate torque of an EV on a low grip road can be challenging.

“Talking about EV performance specifically, the selected tyres are optimised for a lower rolling resistance to help with range, while ensuring that the power can be transmitted with a tyre that when fitted on EVs bites the road. And all this while ensuring traditional ICE drivers keep their established performances.”

The GT Radial WinterPro2 evo is designed to deliver traction on snow, grip on wet roads and short braking distances while delivering high mileage potential and comfort for passenger car and smaller CUV and SUV vehicles.

The GT Radial WinterPro2 SPORT is designed for drivers of high powered passenger cars and premium SUVs who are looking for safe handling and retained sporty driving in winter conditions.

Other tyres in the dual electric vehicle portfolio includes the GT Radial SportActive 2 EV the SportActive 2 and GT Radial FE2 as distinguished with the EV Ready sidewalls.

“When we first launched the dual electric vehicle strategy in June 2023 we called it a game changer, little did we know just how welcome it would be in the marketplace and how white-hot sales would be,” added Brian McDermott, PCR Sale Director Europe for Giti Tire.

“Every GT Radial stockist has reported that the clear identification is making their lives significantly easier, especially at the point of sale where simplification is key. But most important the customer knows the tyre is the right choice for their own vehicle and can drive with complete confidence.”

The GT Radial dual electric vehicle (EV) approach was conceived, designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany.
